Prenatal Diagnostics – General Information

The following methods of prenatal diagnostics are offered as a standard part of modern prenatal care.
The main purpose of these methods – and especially their combination – is to provide you with the highest possible probability of delivery of a healthy child and minimise the risk of stressing surprise after delivery. However, no method of prenatal diagnostics is able to provide 100% guarantee of perfect health of your child.
We are aware of the controversial approaches surrounding the issues of safety/risk of obstetric ultrasound. The method of use of ultrasound in our clinic minimises the risk and provides maximum benefit to you and your child.
We are also aware that some of these methods may provide false positive or false negative results and may cause a certain amount of emotional stress. In any case we believe that the rare unfavourable result of any of the following tests is much less stressing than delivery of a genetically or morphologically defective child.
Pregnancy offers unforgettable feelings of joy and happiness even though you do not feel well all the time. The possibility to follow growth and development of your child is one of the most fascinating moments.

The principal tests include:
- Standard tests – to every pregnant woman (mainly non-invasive)
- Non-standard – offered to a certain group of women (prevailingly invasive)
