Alexander Paul de Leeuw, * 17 October 2006 at 05.42 a.m.

We are very happy and proud to announce the birth of our son Alexander Paul de Leeuw. Alexander was born October 17th at 5:42 am, 3,6 kg / 8 pounds and 51cm/20 inches.The birth went well (besides the fact that everybody says the second one is easier).
It was quite fast (5 hours later after the first contractions), though the whole day was long (my water broke the previous day at 2:30 pm) and also the fact that I was up for 24 hours made it little bit more exhausting experience. Though I managed without any major medication, in natural way, which I was very happy about. Due to little more blood loss I was pretty tired for few days, but
am slowly getting back on track. Alexander is really sweet and I can"t get enough of him. I feel like now I can finally
enjoy little baby (after all my experiments on Amelie, ha ha ...), but the reality is that Amelie is there and needs me too, so looks like I will get most enjoyment out of Alexander during night feedings. We got of real good start with the breastfeeding (for sure he is a GUY!),
he eats very well and seems to be quite content (well, for last 24 hours, ha ha). Amelie can"t get enough of the new "mimi" (=baby) around the house. She is very excited about him and want him to be part of every game she plays. Well, that is only experience after the first day (as of today since we just got back from the hospital in the morning). We would like to share some of first photos with you (some are not the best quality as we did not want to shock the poor baby with constant flashing ..., and Mommy does not look at her best, but who cares, it is the happiness inside that she feels now that matters.)
